I am VERY upset with Adbrite advertisements right now. As you know, this site used Adbrite to serve ads lately. I went with their "intersitial" style ad along with some banners. The intersitial is the ad that comes up between two pages that asks you to click to skip the ad.
Last night, viewing my own blog I caught a NASTY virus from one of these intersitial sites. Adbrite is supposed to police what types of ads are run on their network but apparently they dont do as well of a job as you'd like. I spent 8 straight hours (4am-11am) removing this virus from my PC. The virus disable everything. I couldnt update my virus scanner, and couldnt open any antivirus website without being redirected.
Being the Geek I am, I did find the fix incase anyone needs it. Download this program called Mal ware Bytes anti mal ware from Download.com (without spaces between mal and ware, just doing that incase you have the virus). Rename it to something else, install it, renaming all the folders to something other than mal ware bytes because the virus wont let it work. After it installs, scan for viruses, delete them, reboot, and then delete everything from your Quarantine. Problem solved.
I am so sorry this happened and I AM accepting responsibility and contacting Adbrite about it later today. I am now running their sister ads, BlackLabel Ads. These are more raunchy but their won't be any picture ads or interstitials so if one of our new sponsors interests you, check them out.
